Frequently Asked Questions

How is soft-washing different from pressure washing?

Soft-washing relies on cleaning agents to kill organic materials.  Pressure washing relies on high pressure water to clean.  Soft-washing is safer for siding and provides a deeper cleaning.

Is soft washing safe for vinyl, wood, or concrete?

Yes to all, especially wood. Concrete is harder and may need more pressure than the others, but as it is porous it does benefit from cleaning agents. Wood can easily be damaged with too much pressure.  Siding might get pulled off the wall with too much pressure, and if oxidation is present, may leave streaks.

What chemicals do you use, and are they safe?

We rely on a mix of water, bleach, and soap. For most applications, we use a 1.5% mix of bleach.  We take great care to ensure that we rinse liberally, and often, to protect plants and pets.

Do I need to be home while you clean?

Absolutely not. We only require that you have all the windows closed, any materials by the house are moved, and that your hose spout is operational.

How long does it take to wash a house?

Usually, about two hours for an average sized home in the area.  The size, height, and amount of cleaning required all play into the time required to clean.

What is your source of water?

We use the homeowner's water.  The extra cost to provide water as well as transport it does not justify the effort.
